MOMENI acquires HSBC’s German headquarters on Königsallee in Düsseldorf in a joint venture with WIRTGEN and BLACK HORSE
- MOMENI Group makes further investment in Düsseldorf’s banking district
- Landmark property in one of Germany’s most exclusive central business and shopping districts
- Prime Development planned following HSBC’s relocation
German based MOMENI Group, known for its high-quality landmark developments, purchases the property in a joint venture with WIRTGEN INVEST and BLACK HORSE Investments. Once the vendor, HSBC, has vacated the premises, MOMENI will develop the premises, with approximately 20,000 m² of space for offices, retail, and restaurant businesses, in addition to 225 parking spaces.
“The property is in the prime inner-city location, on one of Germany’s leading shopping boulevards. Once HSBC has relocated, the site offers significant development potential. We are delighted that this investment means that we will yet again shape the silhouette of the banking district,” explains Andreas Gladisch, Managing Director of MOMENI Group.
MOMENI Group also recently acquired Graf-Adolf-Platz 14, also on Düsseldorf’s Königsallee. After completing a large number of developments, with a particular focus on Düsseldorf’s banking district, Kennedydamm, as well as the very successful redevelopment of the iconic Dreischeibenhaus, MOMENI Group is currently further executing two major developments on the Kennedydamm, in addition to a high-rise complex in the Medienhafen area.
“We are very pleased to have secured MOMENI Group as the purchaser, an investor with excellent reference projects in the city. As a Düsseldorf-based bank, it was important to us to place the building in good hands,” emphasizes Carola von Schmettow, CEO of HSBC Germany.
HSBC Germany will relocate to Hansaallee 3 in Düsseldorf, to a building with state-of-the-art thermal insulation and energy efficiency. Employees that initially remained at the original HQ on Königsallee are set to make the move by the end of 2021. As a result, the bank’s employees will be united at a single site for the first time in more than 20 years.
MOMENI was advised by Jebens Mensching PartG mbB, Hamburg. CBRE GmbH, Düsseldorf brokered the transaction. Confidentiality has been agreed concerning the purchase price.
